Construction of coastal Delaware’s newest senior living community is now underway. The Lodge at Truitt Homestead, an 85-unit independent living community that will feature a variety of studio/standard, one-bedroom, and two-bedroom options – all with balconies or patios – is being built as part of Truitt Homestead, an age-restricted community for those 55 and over. The community is expected to open in Late Summer 2019 and already has a growing list of dozens of depositors.
The Lodge is a unique concept because it is the only community in the area to offer independent living on a monthly rental basis. “Our simple contract term of an initial one-year agreement, followed by month-to-month lease arrangement offers residents a lot of flexibility. And the fact that we don’t require a person to pay a large upfront fee to move-in allows residents to retain control of their assets and investments. We just feel our financial model makes more sense for the people who live in our communities” says Greg Stevens, President of Vantage Point Retirement Living – The Lodge’s management company.
The community is much more than a rental community for seniors. In fact, it’s perfect for active seniors who want to spend more time enjoying their retirement and less time on household chores and maintenance. “We’re proud to offer many of the same independent living services and amenities typically found in an entrance-fee community without the large upfront cost” says Mr. Stevens. The Lodge will provide residents with country club-style amenities such as an upscale restaurant, casual bistro, pub lounge, indoor/outdoor pool, and fitness programs. Other amenities will include a movie theater, full-service salon and spa, and outdoor terrace with water features and fire pits. Exceptional services will also be provided to residents of the community, including an in-house concierge, weekly housekeeping, security, transportation, daily activities, social programs, and more.
The Lodge will also offer flexible health and wellness services to residents through a unique association with Beebe Healthcare. These services are designed to help residents maintain their independence while living at The Lodge. Examples of services include: a dedicated health and wellness concierge, on-site therapy services, healthcare coordination through the Beebe Healthcare system, and access to on-site physician appointments.
The Lodge is part of Truitt Homestead, an age-restricted community of single-family homes being sold by Schell Brothers. Homeowners at Truitt Homestead will receive access to The Lodge’s clubhouse-style amenities as part of their monthly maintenance fees. Mr. Stevens explains that this added value further emphasizes the uniqueness of The Lodge, and the whole community of Truitt Homestead for that matter. He explains that “most age-restricted communities do not allow homeowners to gain access to the types of services that are offered by The Lodge, such as dining services and wellness programs. Perhaps more importantly, homeowners will receive priority access to residency at The Lodge when they want or need more services over time. Purchasing a home at Truitt Homestead is an ideal choice for those seniors who want to own their home and enjoy a low-maintenance, amenity-rich lifestyle now, but are also planning for their needs in the future.”
The Lodge is being developed as a joint venture between Vantage Point Retirement Living, LLC of Exton, Pennsylvania and Ocean Atlantic Companies of Rehoboth Beach, Delaware. Daily operations of The Lodge at Truitt Homestead will be the responsibility of Vantage Point Retirement Living, a regional senior living development and management company which has been committed to providing seniors with best-in-class lifestyle communities in Delaware, Pennsylvania and Maryland for over 20 years.
